Dr. Salman Al-Shidi is Director General of Management of Petroleum Investments at the Ministry of Oil and Gas in The Sultanate of Oman.
Salman holds a PhD from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, UK (1997) and Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering from University of Texas at Austin (1993) and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Drexel University, Philadelphia PA, USA (1991).
He is a member of Board of Directors of Petroleum Development Oman and chairs Joint Management Committees of several oil and gas companies in the Sultanate of Oman.
He had held various Senior Positions in oil and gas industry, in Oman Oil Company (Oman), Dove Energy (Yemen), Dubai Petroleum (Dubai), Shell Exploration and Production Company (Malaysia) and Petroleum Development Oman.
He served as Chairperson for the Society of Petroleum Engineers chapters in Oman (1999-2001) and UAE (2007-2008) and he authored and co-authored several SPE Papers.

Mr. Audah Al Ahmadi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Downstream Association has more than thirty-five years of experience in the Oil and Gas Industry and has worked with many organizations like Petromin, Samarec and Saudi Aramco in various positions such as Managing Director, Vice President and Department Manager.
A Chemical Engineer from New Mexico State University in NM, USA; with his Masters in Management from the Hult International Business School, Cambridge Mas., USA, Mr. Al Ahmadi is an active member of many professional and charity associations and was Chairman of MEPEC Conference and Exhibition 2013 & 2015.
He is a Senior Member of AIChE, a Board Member in the Saudi section of AIChE, a member of the Saudi Council of Engineers, a member of the Cancer Society in the Eastern Province, KSA among others. He was previously a Board Member of the National Retiree Association in Dammam as well.

Saeed Mubarak is the Chairman of SPE Digital Energy International Technical Section (DETS), a member in the SPE M&I advisory Committee, a member in the SPE International M&I awards advisory committee, and Texas A&M University SPE student chapter Industry Advisor. He has served in numerous SPE technical steering and program committees.
Saeed has twenty-eight years of Petroleum Industry and has served the industry in various capacities that span across local and international levels, technical and administrative, simple to leadership roles. He was an SPE international distinguished lecturer, a panelist, keynote or invited speaker and discussion leader of in numerous events held in 20 counties including conferences, workshops, forums, symposia and social events. He is also a recognized as a thought provoking author who has published tens of articles to promote innovation and challenge conventional wisdom within & beyond the digital energy and intelligent field including a book titles: “Any Version of History is just a Story”.
He is currently an intelligent fields and petroleum engineering consultant at Saudi Aramco, based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. He began his career in 1992 with Saudi Aramco where he worked as Reservoir, Production, Drilling & Completion, Facilities, Knowledge Management, and Intelligent Fields engineer and specialist. He has led several important teams including the strategic team managing the world’s largest intelligent fields in Saudi Aramco.
His contributions to industry were recognized by renowned technical, governmental and social authorities. He is recipient of several recognitions including the 2009 SPE Regional Management and Information award, 2012 WorldOil Innovative Thinker award, 2013 Saudi King’s award for innovation and the 2014 SPE international award for management and information. He also earned the 2011/2012 SPE Saudi Section "Community Service Award" for his contribution to Social programs. He was a finalist in 2016 WorldOil Lifetime Achievement award, and the international 2019 SPE Distinguished Service Award, and the 2019 SPE Distinguished member award.
Saeed holds a bachelor degree in Chemical engineering and a master degree in petroleum engineering, both from KFUPM.

Phillip Cornell is a senior energy consultant at the World Bank and senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center Prior to joining the Atlantic Council, Cornell was a senior corporate planning advisor to the Chairman and CEO of Saudi Aramco. In that capacity, he also provided advice to the Royal Court in the context of Saudi economic transition and foreign policy.
From 2011-2014 he was special advisor to the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris, responsible for the IEA's external affairs and strategic messaging. Previously, he developed IEA simulations for major oil and gas emergencies.
Before joining the IEA, Cornell served with NATO as the senior fellow and director of international programs at the NATO School (NSO) in Oberammergau, Germany, where his policy research focused on NATO and energy security. During that period, he also served on the secretary general’s committee in Brussels to develop NATO policy in the area of energy infrastructure security.
Cornell has held research positions at the Naval Postgraduate School (Monterey), the Royal United Services Institute (London) and the Center for International Security and Cooperation (Stanford), and he is the author of a number of articles and volumes on energy security and security policy. He holds Masters degrees with distinction in International Economics (energy focus) from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and received his BA cum laude in International Relations from Stanford University.

Cornelius is a well-respected leader and investor in the renewable energy industry and built several successful clean energy businesses and start-ups within Middle East and Africa. He has extensive board level experience from 10 years in Deutsche Bank (among others, youngest board member in Deutsche Bank Italy Group) and several leading renewable energy organisations and associations via pro bono work as well as different startup companies.
By building the international shareholder and partner network of Dii (Desertec Industrial Initiative), he was at the forefront of the renewable energy revolution in North Africa and the Middle East. A keen entrepreneur and investor in emerging markets with recognitions such as “Solar Pioneer 2015” for the Middle East, he is lecturing at several universities including St. Gallen and is a regular speaker at international conferences. He holds an MBA (Dipl. Kaufmann) from University of Passau, and speaks German, English, Italian, French and Russian.
His experience ranges from M&A transactions, asset management, developing utility scale renewable energy projects (including mid-market with private PPAs), pay-as-you-go solar to energy efficiency, including ESCO projects and new business models. Some of the projects and companies were executed in challenging settings or countries. He has led sizable organizations both in startup environments and blue-chip companies and has raised funds from angel investments to USD 100m+ projects with institutional investors.

Joseph McMonigle officially assumed his position on July 1, 2020 as the fifth Secretary General of the International Energy Forum (IEF), the largest international organization of energy ministers and based in the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
He has over 20 years of experience working on energy issues in the public and private sectors.
Prior to becoming Secretary General, Mr. McMonigle was the President & Co-Founder of The Abraham Group, a leading international energy sector management consulting firm based in Washington D.C. as well as a senior energy analyst for Hedgeye Risk Management based in Stamford, Connecticut.
In addition, Mr. McMonigle was Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) during the first term of the Bush Administration (2001-2005) and helped to manage a cabinet department with a $23 billion budget and over 100,000 federal and contractor employees at the time.
He also served two years as the former Vice Chairman and US Representative of the Paris-based International Energy Agency (IEA), an international organization of oil consuming countries within the OECD, whose core mission is to work on stable energy markets. He also served as the US co-chair of the US-China Energy Working Group as part of his DOE portfolio.
Before joining the Bush Administration, Mr. McMonigle was a general counsel and communications director to a United States Senator. He was elected by his peers to serve two terms as President of the U.S. Senate Press Secretaries Association, a bipartisan organization of Senate press secretaries and communications directors.
Mr. McMonigle is an attorney and a member of the Energy Bar Association and licensed in the District of Colombia and Pennsylvania state bars. He is also an FAA licensed pilot with instrument rating.
He received his undergraduate degree from King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania (USA) and his Juris Doctor degree from Widener University Commonwealth Law School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (USA).

Prior to his present assignment, Dr. Al-Qahtani was an advisor to H.E. Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, Saudi Arabia. Earlier in his career, Dr. Al-Qahtani held various executive and technical positions with Saudi Aramco and World Energy Council.

Graduated from the University of Wales College Cardiff, School of Engineering, with a Bachelor of Environmental Engineering (Hons). Waddah is considered one of the global authorities on Governance and Leadership and High Reliability Organisations (HROs). He is the Hon Chairman for the Energy Institute – Middle East and is also the Chairman of the Platform for Connected Leadership (PCL), Dubai, UAE.
He is also currently the Senior Director for Sustainability, Operational and Business Excellence for the ENOC Group in Dubai, UAE and overseas all the Sustainability, CSR, Energy and Resource Management and reporting as well as Business and Operational Excellence, Innovation and Process Improvement and LSS projects with the Group.
Waddah holds several academic and vocational qualifications including two PG Diplomas an MSc in Environmental Sciences; an Executive MBA and a Doctorate from the University of Bradford in Governance and Leadership. He has received several awards in his career, most notably, the Rashid Prize for Scholarship Excellence in 2007 (Dubai), and the IEMA Sustainability Leader of the Year (UK) in 2019.
He delivers various lectures in technical, on learning and in leadership and governance at universities, conferences and within organisations. He is a visiting lecturer on the MSc program at the Universiti of Technologi Petronas (UTP) in Malaysia and appointed as an external examiner for PhD defence exams at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) in India. He is an advisor on the Herriot Watt University’s Industry Advisory Committee.
His publications include various research, practitioner journal and conference papers in addition to 7 internationally published books mainly is Safety Management, Operational Excellence, Reflective Learning, HSE Practitioner Executive Development, Governance and Leadership as well as theology. Two books are currently under development in PSM & Human Factors and another on Governance and Leadership in Health and Safety.
He served as Vice Chairman of Dubai Carbon (DCCE PJSC) from 2010-2019; he is a Board Member of the not-for-profit Emirates Environment Group; an Executive Committee Member (Board) the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) and a Board/Council member of the Energy Institute (EI) in the UK and serves as the Hon. Since 2011, F. Hanchi has been the Director of the Division for the Rational Use of Energy at ANME. As such, he has been in charge of the management and coordination of energy efficiency programs and activities in the tertiary, residential, building and transport sectors in Tunisia. His portfolio also includes a national programme for energy efficiency in the public sector, energy efficiency conventions with local authorities, as well as national and Mediterranean cooperation projects. Graduated in mechanical engineering, Mr Hanchi has more than 19 years of experience in energy efficiency. He has been actively involved in the energy sector reform in Tunisia and contributed designing, implementing and evaluating energy efficiency programs in the country. He has a solid track record in the economic and managerial aspects of energy efficiency. Since March 2019, he has been nominated Central Technical Manager at ANME, and from June 2020 he is nominated the General Director of ANME.

Prior to joining Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, Andrea Di Gregorio supported the activation of the Dubai Demand Side Management strategy as a PMO Director at the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, UAE, and as a Director of Strategy and Continuous Improvement at TAQATI, UAE. Ameer Abdul Hussain – Planner, Oman Power and Water Procurement Company: Having joined the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) in 2011 and equipped with degrees in both Computer Engineering and Energy Economics, Ameer has made contributions to Oman’s development of renewable energy projects, both present and future. He has also participated in discussions at a national level as a representative in Oman’s Energy Labs, under the Tranfeedh initiative, providing insight and access to the macro considerations of capacity planning and striking a balance between ambition and economic viability.
Ameer leads the efforts in preparing and publishing OPWP’s 7 Year Statement publication, which provides an annual review of demand forecast, capacity plans, and overview of OPWP’s procurement activities. Further to this, he leads OPWP’s efforts in renewable energy resource assessments, and endeavors to make such data available to the public through the OPWP website for the benefit of researchers, academics, and investors.

Dr. Taoumi has been leading Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency projects and technology deployment for over 35 years.
Dr. Taoumi held several key positions including Technical Director and Secretary General and Deputy Executive Director within the National Renewable Energy Centre (CDER) in Morocco as well as founding member and Executive Secretary of the Mediterranean Association of the National Agencies for Energy Conservation (MEDENER- Network)- Spain. He was also engaged in several initiatives and projects funded by France (CNRS & ADEME), the EU, JICA (Japan), US AID and GIZ (Germany).
Between 2010 and December 2015, he worked as a Regional Programme Officer for North Africa and the Middle East region (MENA) within the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the first global intergovernmental organisation dedicated to all renewables.
As a Clean Energy Key Expert within the EU GCC Clean Energy Technology Network (an EU funder initiative in partnership with GCC SG) since January 2016, Dr. Taoumi coordinates the technical part of the work-programme for clean energy topics.
Among other positions, Dr. Taoumi is an active member on several organisations, conferences and networks around the world.
Dr. Taoumi holds a PhD in Electrochemistry from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (INPG) in France and master's degrees in Electrochemical Engineering and Management Science, he is fluent in English, French, Spanish as well as Arabic.

Hamza Al Jefri is the General Manager of Sharjah Waste to Energy Company, a joint venture by Masdar and Sharjah Environment Company. In this position, he is responsible for development and execution of the Middle East’s first commercial waste-to-energy project by leading the technical, commercial and financing activities, and ensuring key strategic objectives are met.
In his previous role at Masdar, Al Jefri was in the bid proposal team for the first concentrated solar power (“CSP”) tower plant project in the Middle East. He worked on setting up bid strategies, analyzing the technical and commercial requirements of tender documentation, and preparing and reviewing competitive schemes for the bid submission.
Al Jefri was previously seconded by Masdar to another pioneering project taking up the position of A. Project Manager at Abu Dhabi Carbon Capture Company – Al Reyadah. There, he collaborated on development of the world’s first iron and steel carbon capture project in Mussafah, and supported on the execution of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract.
Since Al Jefri joined Masdar, he has spent nearly a decade in the clean energy sector, exclusively leading and working on innovative and landmark projects in the UAE.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca-NY, US and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland – College Park, US. He is a graduate of the Harvard Business Publishing Leadership program, a qualified Project Management Professional (PMP), and ISO 9001 Internal Auditor, and holds a number of qualifications in project finance and project risk management.

Prior to her current function, Ms. Achovski held the position of GIE Vice Executive Secretary for a period of 4 years. Before joining GIE, Boyana Achovski worked for Bulgartransgaz, the Bulgarian transmission and storage operator, where she led the Analysis and International Operations Division, managing the company’s undertakings relating to the European regulatory framework and European energy policy. Ms. Achovski graduated in International Economic Affairs, specialized in International Finance and holds a Master's degree in Finance. Dr Watson is the Secretary General of Eurogas, a role he has held since January 2019. Eurogas is the association representing the European gas wholesale, retail and distribution sectors.
Prior to taking the helm at Eurogas, Dr Watson was the Chief Executive Officer of SolarPower Europe, the European solar industry association. Before joining SolarPower Europe, Dr Watson worked as the Director of Public Affairs for Weber Shandwick, specialising in energy and trade policy. Before coming to Brussels, Dr Watson worked for the Commonwealth Secretariat on a European Commission project on trade and sustainable development based in Ethiopia. Earlier in his career James worked for various UK government bodies in London and worked as a lecturer in Environmental Law at the University of Manchester.
He holds a Ph.D in International Trade and Environmental Law from the University of Leeds, and is currently a Visiting Professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

Jorgo Chatzimarkakis is Secretary General of Hydrogen Europe since 2016. Before he was Representative of Infineon Technologies in Brussels and Member of the European Parliament (2004 – 2014) inter alia in the ITRE Committee (Industry, Technology, Research and Energy) where he could contribute to lay the cornerstone for the first and the second Joint Undertaking on hydrogen and fuel cells. In 2007 he was elected “MEP of the year” by his colleagues of the European Parliament in the category “Research and Innovation”. In 2015 he was appointed ambassador at large for Greece.
Mr Chatzimarkakis was born in Duisburg, Germany. He holds German and Greek nationality, a degree in political science from the University of Bonn.

Dr. Stuart Hawksworth has worked in the area of Safety for 25 years, fulfilling a number of technical and oversight roles at the Health and Safety Executive’s Laboratory in Buxton in the UK. These include creating and managing the Centre for Energy and Major Hazards, made up of 70 expert scientist and engineers working in the area of risk management, fire, explosion and process safety.
As Head of HSE’s Centre for Energy he has oversight of a broad programme of Hydrogen Safety Projects covering power, heat and transport funded by the European Commission, UK Government and Industry. He is also the President of International Association for Hydrogen Safety (www.hysafe.info) and a task leader in Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking’s European Hydrogen Safety Panel.

After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Logistics from the Maritime Institute De Ruyters in the Netherlands, Mark set-up and managed HT Research from 1991-2001, an international consultancy focusing on logistics and quality. He worked for 12 years in industry of plant engineering and construction, KHD and Thyssen, focused on industrial R&D in the field of process and energy engineering, environmental engineering and metallurgy. In 1990 he got the call to overtake the chair for Mechanical Process Engineering at RWTH-Aachen University. He was actively researching on basic and applied topics, beside others in the field of hydrogen production and CCS Technologies. In 2013 he became rector of the GUtech, German University of Technology in Oman, and in 2020 he was appointed as director of the Oman Hydrogen Centre (OHC) at GUtech, the centre for clean hydrogen, hydrogen research, technology, education, application and economy.

She was previously the programme officer for the Middle East and North Africa in the Global Energy Relations Division of the International Energy Agency from 2015-2018. She also served as the IEA’s representative on the executive board of the International Energy Forum.
Kate joined the IEA from the Middle East Economic Survey (2013-2015) where she was senior editor covering energy-related developments in the Middle East for the weekly. Prior to joining MEES, (2000-2013) Kate was Editor in Chief for the Middle East for oil price reporting agency Platts, now a division of S&P Global, based in Dubai. Phillip Cornell is a senior energy consultant at the World Bank and senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center Prior to joining the Atlantic Council, Cornell was a senior corporate planning advisor to the Chairman and CEO of Saudi Aramco. In that capacity, he also provided advice to the Royal Court in the context of Saudi economic transition and foreign policy.
