Qatar Fintech Summit, a Virtual Expo and Summit on Fintech, will take place on 24 August 2021.
Qatar Fintech Summit is the definitive meeting place facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogue with power packed networking opportunities among C-Level executives, leading industry experts, decision makers, policy makers and government officials from across the value chain to foster collaboration, discuss current challenges, business opportunities, develop market strategies, share knowledge and identify solutions aimed at shaping the future of Fintech.

Accelerated digitization, with banks embracing new Fintech strategies have enabled them to develop products and services that meet existing and ever-changing customer and regulatory requirements, overcome current market challenges, while building resilient systems and enhancing operational efficiencies. Fintech solutions will have to play an ongoing role in the economic recovery, while accelerating the emergence of an inclusive, robust and innovative financial services industry.

Alan Ainsworth is Head of Policy at the Open Banking Implementation Entity (OBIE). OBIE was set up by the UK’s competition regulator the Competition and Markets Authority to develop open banking standards and ensure effective implementation by the UK’s biggest banks, with the aim of driving competition and innovation in retail banking. Alan has led the work of the OBIE in focusing on the customer’s ease-of-use when using open banking, and was instrumental in adding app-to-app authentication and the Customer Experience Guidelines to the Open Banking Standard.
Alan is responsible for engaging with participants to develop the requirements for the Open Banking Standard, for external communications and regulatory relations.
Alan has been interested in and involved in open data for financial services since the early days of the UK’s “midata” programme in 2011, where he was an original Steering Group Member. He has advised businesses on payments and open banking legislation including the Interchange Fee Regulation and the revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2).
Alan spent much of his career at Barclays, where he had senior roles in payments, retail banking, citizenship and government relations. He has also worked at global payments business Paysafe.
